Dean of Students

Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students

Welcome from Patricia "Pat" Mahon (that's pronounced Mann)
the Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students

The members of the Student Affairs Division and I welcome you to the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. We are dedicated to serving students and helping individuals grow and develop while they pursue their educational and career goals.

I came to the School of Mines in the fall of 2000 as the Vice President for Student Affairs and the Dean of Students. Prior to that I worked in the divisions of student affairs at Eastern Montana College (now Montana State University - Billings) and Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas. Being a native of Wyoming, it is great to be in this part of the country.

I enjoy meeting students and hearing first hand your questions, concerns and accomplishments. And definitely make sure I know how to pronounce your name because it is my privilege to introduce you as you receive your SDSM&T undergraduate diploma!

Here's looking forward to seeing you around campus, whether it is at events, in the Hardrock Dining Hall, on the Quad or in my office located in the Surbeck Center.

Sincerely, Dean Mahon
